The AbilityOne program mandates sourcing certain textile products from nonprofits employing individuals with disabilities. Beyond uniforms, federal textile procurement includes body armor, ballistic fabrics, parachutes, tentage, and fire-resistant materials. Manufacturers must comply with military specifications (MIL-SPEC), maintain quality systems, and demonstrate domestic production capacity under the Berry Amendment. Companies with experience in technical textiles, flame-resistant fabrics, and quick-turn production capabilities find the strongest demand.
