The United States Mint hereby invites your company to submit a Proposal in response to this Solicitation 2031JG26R00011 "United States Mint Die Steel". 1. SERVICES REQUIRED (SYNOPSIS): The United States Mint has a requirement to acquire high grade steel, in bar form, suitable for the manufacture of coinage dies used to produce proof and circulating coins to meet the nation's numismatic and commercial needs.  Presently, the following steel grades are used in our dies, 52100, A2, A9, L6, and S7.  To ensure the highest quality standards with our coins, the die steel requires strict adherence to the specifications herein.  The Die Manufacturing Division of the United States Mint is divided between the United States Mint's Philadelphia, PA facility, and the Denver, CO facility. The die manufacturing facilities are responsible for the production of all dies used in the manufacture of the nation's coinage and produce over 100,000 dies each year. These dies are utilized at the four minting operations of the United States Mint which are located at Philadelphia, PA, Denver, CO, San Francisco, CA, and West Point, NY. Steel shall be delivered to the United States Mint at Philadelphia and the United States Mint at Denver in accordance with specific delivery orders, detailing the quantities of each die steel type and delivery period.  2. QUESTIONS:  Questions regarding the requirements of this solicitation must be submitted in writing, electronically and must be received by the United States Mint no later than 10:00 AM (EST) MONDAY, JULY  13, 2026. All question should be forwarded to the attention of Katrice Walker (KATRICE.WALKER@USMINT.TREAS.GOV) , and cite the applicable section, clause, paragraph number, and page of the solicitation that they address. Time constraints may preclude answering late submittals or questions. Please be advised that questions submitted by any method other than electronic mail or after the specified deadline may not be answered.  3. VENDOR DAY DATE / TIME: Offerors shall submit their Point of Contact that will be attending the United States Vendor Day electronically to KATRICE.WALKER@USMINT.TREAS.GOV by 11:00 AM (EST) on FRIDAY, JULY 07, 2026,   the following information must be included in the email Vendor Name, POC Name, Number, Email Address that will be attending the United States Mint Vendor Day The United States (U.S.) Mint is inviting potential vendors to present virtually by the end of July to members of the U.S. Mint Die Manufacturing Divisions to provide insight into their company’s capabilities. Vendors should recognize that this is an opportunity to present themselves and their capabilities to address the bar stock die steel requirements of the U.S. Mint and additional engineering support requests. The purpose of this requirement is for the U.S. Mint to first, continue receiving quality bar stock die steel for coinage dies of the steel grades that have been used successfully in the past. Additionally, the U.S. Mint is interested in research and development assistance to identify potential new steel grades for coinage dies. This may include but is not limited to sample lots, testing for die life, and engineering assistance from the contractor. These presentations will allow interactions between various internal Mint stakeholders and the contractors responsible for steel production and research. These presentations may educate decisions that will impact the U.S. Mint’s approach to current and new die steel products to meet its customers’ expectations. 4. FIRST ARTICLE SAMPLES SUBMISSION: In accordance with Section F.8 FIRST ARTICLE SAMPLES, the die steel samples shall be boxed and sent to (see below): Please coordinate with Joseph Jordan prior to shipping die steel samples. The samples shall be boxed with protective packaging material and sent to: United States Mint at Philadelphia ATTN: MariAnne Davis 151 North Independence Mall East Philadelphia, PA  19106 Or, United States Mint at Denver ATTN: Meghan Tryon / Rhonda Williams 320 West Colfax Ave. Denver, CO  80204 It is important that you coordinate with the COR and United States Mint Metallurgist for that site prior to any shipment. For a new supplier to the United States Mint first article samples shall be manufactured utilizing the production equipment, tools, and processes to be employed in production of other quantities required under the contract and delivered in accordance with the terms of the contract. First article samples shall be inspected by the United States Mint prior to the start of production quantities. United States Mint approval of first article samples shall not relieve the Contractor of responsibility to comply with the specifications and inspection requirements herein.
