Full Description

James A. Haley Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center Headache Center of Excellence: Demountable Walls, Lighting, and Sound-Adaptive System James A. Haley V.A. Hospital 13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd Tampa, FL 33612 Background: The James A. Haley Veterans Hospital (JAHVH) requires the installation of a demountable wall system featuring integrated adaptive lighting and sound controls to enhance patient care in the Headache Center of Excellence (HCoE). Serving Veterans with chronic headaches, polytrauma, and traumatic brain injuries, the HCoE must address heightened sensitivities to lighting, noise, and visual stimuli. The existing clinic environment, characterized by fixed, bright lighting, can exacerbate symptoms and hinder participation in assessments and therapies. This initiative aims to establish a sensory-controlled, patient-centered treatment space that mitigates triggers and supports optimal clinical outcomes. The Vendor will oversee ordering, shipment, installation, configuration, and removal of all debris associated with the demountable wall system and adaptive lighting/sound equipment, as well as managing furniture procurement and disposal. Project Purpose: This project seeks to install a demountable wall system equipped with healthcare-appropriate adaptive lighting and sound controls. The improved environment enables clinicians to adjust sensory inputs according to individual Veteran sensitivities, reducing pain induced by light or noise and facilitating evidence-based interventions such as biofeedback, relaxation therapy, and headache management related to TBI. The enhancements promote comfort, safety, and compliance with modern standards for therapeutic care of Veterans with unique sensory needs. Statement of Work: The Vendor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, installation, and configuration necessary to fully implement the demountable wall system and integrated adaptive lighting and sound solutions. All components must comply with VA requirements for cleanability, durability, and compatibility with medical facility infrastructure.
